I have been appointed to the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board, and I will be formally sworn in this January. I’m excited by this opportunity to serve, and to do so with such accomplished experts from such varied backgrounds.
The Board’s purpose is to provide independent advice and recommendations to the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of the Air Force, more specifically to conduct studies on critical topics, recommend application of technology to improve Air Force capabilities, and to provide an independent review of the quality and relevance of the Air Force’s $4+ billion science and technology research program.
Famous mathematician John von Neumann was a member of the board, appointed in 1951.
